Mmegi: A former Zimbabwean Project Fame representative Kudzai Sevenzo has been in the country since last week to attend the ongoing Bible Life Ministries conference.

The 26-year-old Sevenzo said that being in Botswana to share her music has been a very exciting experience.


Kudzai made it to the top 10 finalists of Project Fame. She is the first contestant to release an album. She has worked on the 10-track gospel album for two years. She has auditioned for a reality TV show with the hope of enhancing her music career.

With the urge to live out her passion, Kudzai quit her job last year to concentrate on music. “Music is my number one passion and every thing is just a step.”

She believes that she is an artiste with a message and that the music must reflect the way she lives her life. Sevenzo has been distributing her promotional CDs in the country. She has been singing to the Bible Life congregation though she did not bring her full band with her.

She said she derived inspiration from God to defy the odds and finish her high quality album.

She is planning to tour Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and South Africa. She admits that it will be difficult but she maintains that she has to adjust to the physical challenges. Her music is already selling in South Africa and Zambia.

She said that like any other music, gospel has to be of a high standard and it is up to artistes to give their best to show that quality is very important.

The album is reportedly doing well in the market. The RnB gospel release called ‘On a day like this’ have tracks like ‘Better than life’ which talk about God’s amazing love. Another good track is ‘I don’t know why’.

The song ‘Zita Renyu’ is composed in the style of a traditional Zimbabwean chorus. The song celebrates life and the goodness of God.

In the track called ‘Use me’ Sevenzo says she sometimes felt inadequate about the things that she knows God has called her to do. “If the greatest vision scares you, then you are on the right track. He has the power to use whatever is in your hands to impact this planet.”

Other tracks include ‘He knows’, ‘Thank you’, ‘Uyai Qinisela’ and ‘In this place’. Sevenzo dreams of creating her own unique sound but she enjoys collaborating with other artistes. After a hectic schedule, Kudzai sits home and listens to music, hangs out with friends and gives attention to her puppy.
